Providing Service

In reviewing my service you will recognize the patterns in the work that I do and how it relates to Multicultural and International pillars. I have been influenced by the work of current AERA President, Dr. Shaun Harpers work on diversity and hiring within higher education and have been directly involved in this type or work within several organizations. I had recommended training that has recently been made available through the newly established USC Race and Equity Center. In the research related to this area, there is much more explicitly and strategically designed institutional decision making as multicultural and international core values are more than having a diverse or international student population within an institution. These values need to be seen in all facets of the institution and reflected in their policies, procedures, faculty and staff recruitment and retention, and explicitly seen within all departments and programs. The work at USC and their Institutional Diversity Report Card build upon the work of Dr. James Banks.
